Since Thanksgiving is tomorrow, before school at Western Plains High School broke for the holiday, I had my yearbook students blog about what they are thankful for.
Here is what they all wrote:
Ashley Stull: I'm thankful for my step-sister. She is in the Army and currently
stationed at Afghanistan. She is fighting for our freedom. She means a
lot to me so I'm very thankful for her and every other soldier. I'm
Thankful for my mom she means a lot to me. If it wasn't for her I
wouldn't be here today. She is strong when everything seems to be going
wrong. She is always there for me and my brother when we need her. I'm
thankful for all of my moms friends. They helped raise me when my mom
got divorced when I was 4 and we moved to Ransom, KS. I can't imagine my
life without them. They are all like my mom. I'm thankful for my dad.
Even thou I only see him on Christmas and this year Parents' Night a
Graduation. He made me realize that I want my children to have their
father in their life. He may not be the greatest dad in the world but
he's my dad and I love him. There are a lot of people I am thankful for,
but these people are on top of my list!
Kate Hagans: Thanksgiving is about giving thanks to all around, and realizing what
you have in your life. Looking at life like a glass half fill instead of
half empty. I could sit here and complain about how I drive a piece of
crap pickup to school everyday, and school is like prison. But instead,
now looking at the glass half full. I am thankful I have my pickup,
Blackie, to get me to school and back everyday, because if I didn't I'd
be ridding with my mother everyday, arguing back and forth the whole way
there and home. I also am thankful for my school that I attend
everyday. Here, from learning to say my ABC's to taking a 8 page test
for Psychological class. I am very thankful we have teachers here that
care about our education. They want us to do our best, and reach our
fullest potential. Finally, I am most thankful for my family and
friends. You won't get far in life without any family behind to support
you the whole way. No matter what your family will always be there to
help you. Your friends are you fan club in life. They are what make you
able to get up in the morning, and make your day a little bit brighter.
Without any of these things I've just listed, I don't know what I'd be
thankful in life for.
Ashley Coghill: I'm
thankful for what i have now and that I'm here and have a wonderful
family. I'm thankful that my friends were so supportive with my choice
to move and didn't get to mad for me not saying good bye. I'm thankful
for the air in my lungs and knowing that i am loved by my family and
friends.I'm thankful to be able to meet new people. I'm thankful for the
new experiences that i have at this new school. I'm thankful for everyone i have in my life and i can share all my ups and downs with and spend time with.
Maci Hagelgantz: As it is Thanksgiving time I wanted to post about what I am thankful for.
1. I am very thankful for my family. Especially my parents who give me guidance and support through everything.
2. I am thankful for a nice warm house to sleep in. It is very hard to
get up in the mornings, but some kids don't have that luxury.
3. I am thankful for all my friends, though we may fight at times I know they always have my back and me theirs.
4. I am thankful for my cell phone. Even though it is a material thing I
don't know how many times I've had to call and get help or ask a
question from someone and it's just easier than going to find them.
5. My car. It helps me get to where I need to be, and is probably one of the greatest things invented. It is awesome!
6. I am thankful to be living in the U.S. We are free!
7. I suppose I could be thankful for my siblings...even though they can
be really annoying. But, when we go see family there are enough people
so I don't have to see them very often. I'm just kidding I love them and
nobody else gets to tease or make fun of them, that's my job.
So, I guess I love my family and wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world except here with them.
Casey Kraus: I'm thankful for my family. My family is always there for me no matter
what. Yes, they can be annoying and we can get on each others nerves but
we love each other. We take care of each other through thick and thin. I
am thankful for all that I own. I have many possessions, more than I
probably should have, but I am very thankful for them all. I put
whatever I have to good use and I make sure I share it. I am thankful
for all my friends. I have many good times with them and enjoy spending
time with them. I am thankful for God being in my life. He is always
there when I need to talk to someone. He has helped me through many
things and I know he's always watching out for me. I am thankful for
just having good health. There are many people out there who are just
struggling to stay alive. I am thankful for my girlfriend, Andrea. She
is not only my girlfriend but my best friend. I can always be myself
around her and no matter what we are doing, I am always having fun. She
just knows how to make me smile. I am thankful for my freedom. I am
proud to live in the U.S. and am very thankful for those who served and
have died for my freedom. Most of all I am just thankful for life. I
love everyday and try to make the most of it.
Itzel A.: I'm thankful for the everything that God has gave me. God has gave me a
great family that is always here for me no matter what is the problem. A
family I can spend Thanksgiving with. I cherish them because I know
they are a blessing. I'm also thankful for my friends who care for me as
much as i care for them. Friends that know how to cheer me up in any
situation. I'm thankful for my education and food that I have everyday.
For having good health and for knowing that my parents have good health,
even though they are 60 years or more, is something that I'm extremely
thankful for. Just know that my family is doing okay and being able to
have them still alive is a great gift from God, that I'm thankful for.
Many people don't appreciate the nature that surrounds us but nature
itself is something that we should be thankful for. Every single little
thing, every little detail in life is a gift from God that we should be
thankful everyday not just for that Thanksgiving Day.
Hugo Hernandez: What should every person be thankful for? I don't know maybe life,
friends, family? Or perhaps your car, I pod, indoor pool? It all depends
on the kind of persons attitude. I'm thankful for the life that was
given to me and being able to live up to it to the fullest everyday.
Life isn't guaranteed everyday, that is why I live mine as if it were
going to be my last. The main priority is to be as good as a person I
can and respect others. I'm thankful for my family and true friends. The
love and support they give to me helps me keep my head up from those
days were I am down. I'm thankful for my parents, being able to support
me and a roof for me to live under and giving me accessories needed in
life to be happy.
Drake Wentz: I am thankful for James Naismith, the creator of basketball. I am
thankful for the family that I have, I could not ask for more better
family then the family that I have in my life. I am thankful for the
town that I live in because there is not as much trouble that could
happen in the big city. Even though there is not a lot of teens my age
here in the town, that doesn't matter, you can still have a good time.
Everyone knows everyone in the town. I am most thankful for the things
that my parents give me, even though its not the newest, its still means
a lot to me because my family gives me thing that I need and some of
the things that i want, not all of them. I am also most thank for the
girl that I have. She is the best girl that I could ever ask for, and
thats the truth. You just need to find that girl thats just the one for
you like I did. The last thing that I'm thankful is for is my sister. I
know she is part of my family but i could not be were I am today if it
wasn't for her. Yes we get in fights A LOT, but at the end we still love
each other. That's what I am thankful for in this life.
Saul Rivera: I am thankful for all the things i have in my life. Having family and
friends who care about me. I'm thankful for having what I need and when I
need it, like if i ever needed a place to stay I always have friends
and family members I can depend on. I'm also thankful to God for giving
me a chance to live a life and helping walk a good path Because without
God in my life I wouldn't be living the life I am living right now. Also
for all the food I have in my house and not starving.
